The redneck games in Barnesville

On September 20th Barnesville had their version of the "redneck games"...the pig chase. Yes the children and women were actually chasing a live pig. To mark the end of Buggy Days which is a weekend festival that Barnesville has on Saturday night they have the pig chase and fireworks at the end of the night. The chase is seperated into different age groups for the children and then they let the women attempt to pass some time while waiting on the fireworks display. I had went once before when Austin chased the pig, but he never caught it.
This was Hunter's first year participating and I tell you he was so excited. I was wondering the entire time "What will we do with the pig?" because you actually keep the pig that you catch. They put this poor little baby pig in a burlap sack and send it home with you. I did want him to touch the pig, but not actually catch it. He could not live at my house because that was not going to happen. I had the perfect place... at Maw's house(the in-law's) she insisted that he was not coming there as well, so I said to her "Are you going to tell your Grandson no?" Of course she would not have because she never does. Well luckily Maw had nothing to worry about because Hunter did not catch the pig (thank goodness). He had such a good time running around the football field chasing the pig with his cousins Maddy and Kiersten and his classmate J.D. We sure did get our laughs watching him try so hard to catch the pig.

So it is oficial we are true rednecks because not only did we attend the redneck games...we participated!
